Tim Thanks for the brilliant music that you make and that I enjoy so much. I saw the enz in Auckalnd last year ay New Years and could not think of a better way to bring in a new century. Music is such a powerful thing and therapeutic and alot of the music you have made has helped mme get through some pretty rough times. I loved your version "Death of a Popular Song" at the recent concert wth Dobbyn & Runga. I feel privaleged to have your music as part of my life. Thanks Matt O'Dea

Just got the live Tim Finn/Dave Dobbyn/Bic Runga cd. Wow. You really ought to try and get your mitts on a copy if you're even remotely interested in any of these guys. Sounds like NZ got some great concerts while the rest of us missed out - this is the next best thing. Will one of the Finn brothers please come to the UK soon!?!

I was just wondering when the site will be updated. Nothing has been added or even updated for five months. Whats hapenning, it's not like theres been any shortage of worthy Tim news. His other official site hasnt even been updated since it was started, and they don't have a message board where you can point this out to them.

Dear Tim, Bic & Dave fans, As you all know, in August of this year, Tim Finn, Bic Runga and Dave Dobbyn took to the road to share the stage as a trio for the first time, in a nationwide tour of New Zealand. It was one of the most successful tours the country had ever witnessed - a national sell out of 26 shows with a total audience of over 30,000 people. On November 6th 2000, CRS Records/Epic will release TOGETHER IN CONCERT: LIVE the album. This album will contain 15 tracks, recorded on the landmark tour. The tour saw the three leading New Zealand singer/songwriters on stage together at all times. They performed together and alone, acoustic and electric with and without a band - playing their own and each other's songs. All three performers are household names in New Zealand, their songs part of the musical landscape. Selected shows were recorded from around the country. Malcolm Welsford then mixed the best recording of each track at his studio in Kare Kare, with the assistance of the artists. There were no "overdubs", meaning that what you hear on the record, was what was performed at the shows - entirely. There are 5 tracks from each of the artists - from a songwriting perspective - even though all three of the artists are involved on most of the tracks. The intention was to deliver a record which not only provided the big hits from each of their catalogues, but to also include new works from each of them. The tracks were also selected with a view to maintaining the "feel" of the live shows - the high-energy points, the quiet reflective points, the crowd favourites and the "crowd involvement" songs. We wanted people to listen to the record and remember exactly what it was like to be there - and provide a record for those that weren't there too. The www.finn-runga-dobbyn.com website has just been updated. There are some stunning new photographs taken at Auckland's Civic Theatre by Becky Nunes, including some with special guests Neil Finn & Boh Runga. The "Live CD" section now has samples from all the songs in RealAudio for you to listen to. Most samples are between 30 seconds and a minute long, with Dave Dobbyn's "Just Add Water" provided in it's entirety. A personal highlight for me is the haunting slide guitar (Dobbyn) and flute (Finn) intro for Bic Runga's "Drive". Listen in on the website. The record is only licenced for distribution within New Zealand, so unless you're very lucky and find a store who imports it, people outside of New Zealand might like to take advantage of the international Mail Order service which is now on the www.finn-runga- dobbyn.com website.

Hi, It's hard to express my feelings in just a few words. anyway, thank you TIM for your work. SAY IT IS SO is definetly your best album - in my opinion. Though I don't know one person here in France who knows you (they hardly know about CROWDED HOUSE and never heard about NEIL or SPLIT ENZ...)I really hope you'll come and play in PARIS very soon. Though the French have a poor musical taste, I'm sure some are worth hearing you live.

The promised live album from the FINN-RUNGA-DOBBYN NZ tour, is currently slated for release in New Zealand on November 6, 2000 (note however that scheduled release dates are always subject to change). Dave, Bic and Tim have personally selected their favourite tracks from the tour. These fifteen songs are currently being mastered for the album "Together In Concert: Live" Tim Finn, Bic Runga & Dave Dobbyn. The album cover artwork, and the full CD / cassette tracklisting can now be seen in the "Live CD" section of the www.finn-runga-dobbyn.com website. I first saw Tim open up for 10,000 Maniacs - years ago. I have since only been able to catch him in concert one time on the east coast. I have kind of rediscovered his music after hearing Six months in a Leaky Boat at a recent party - thrown by one of my Kiwi friends on my rugby team. Tim keep up the fantastic work and will you have tour dates of the USA at the end of 2000 or 2001? Take Care and Good Luck, Andrew Gilbert

I can say without reservation that the best concert I ever saw was Tim and Neil Finn at Twin Towns, a kind of early seventies style cabaret place with red carpet up the walls, at the Gold Coast, (Australia) a few years ago. Tim Finn was wearing a rather sharp green suit and walking around the stage barefoot. I really liked their version of Six Months in a Leaky Boat. I heard the song on my car radio today and even though I'd reached my destination I stayed in the car till the song finished. It really brings back the joy of life, that song. I am also predisposed to the meloncholic balads. I was surprised to learn about the new album or CD or whatever they call them these days only on the internet. Plus the fact that there have been other albums released fairly recently. If I relied on the other media maybe I would never have heard about them. Anyway, great music. I like artists like Tom Waits and Willie Nelson, sort of downside of life stuff, but the difference with tim Finn's stuff is you don't feel down after it, whereas the others, although great songwriters, seem to dump all their stuff onto you. Anyway, I wish to request another tour of some kind to Brisbane, or better still Twin Towns with all its red carpeted glory.

Hi, There's a new site by Sony Music NZ, promoting the upcoming "small town theatre tour" by Tim Finn, Dave Dobbyn and Bic Runga. The URL is given in this message's header. The messageboard encourages fans to discuss what songs the three of them should perform - as well as singing re-arranged versions of selections from their own back catalogues, they intend covering each other's songs! There is talk of a possible live album to come from the tour...

Still on a post-concert high from Monday night in Seattle. The man just gets better and better. As long as he can still nail "I Hope I Never", there is no question of his voice not being up to scratch. I was amazed there weren't more people as Tim deserves so much respect and a big audience. I don't know if he reads these, but wanted to thank him for playing "Not Even Close" -- How many times I have sung myself the line, "Weave me a rope that will pull me through these impossible times" --to help me get through the rough spots -- Thanks Tim, and Happy Birthday! Tim's Show last night at the 9:30 Club in Washington DC - Great effort; 1 hour and 20 minutes. Another exemplary Finn outing. A combination of Tim Finn solo tunes; a couple of Crowded House gems and a sprinkle of Split Enz. Tim was accompanied by a slide guitarist (didn't catch his name) and Tim pulled off the simultaneous guitar/kick and snare drum playing without any audible hitches. Tim was in great mood and appeared to enjoy the evening. Managed to say hi briefly backstage and he was genrous with his time and kind to put up with my more than slightly drunken banter.

Hi Tim! Saw your concert on Wednesday night in Washington DC... thanks for noticing my friend and I had been in Baltimore the night before! Yet again, you gave us a tremendous show. My only complaint is about your opening act. I really enjoyed his music, but I had a bit of a problem with his attitude... I turned to my friend to tell her how wonderful he was, and he stopped talking and said, "Why don't you go to the bar and get out of my face?" I'm sorry, but if he doesn't want me to comment on his talent, fine. I guess he's lost at least 2 CD sales over that. Aside from any of that though, your part of the show was excellent! Had a great time! Thanks, Wendi

Just saw the Tim show last night- it was incredible. Just Tim and one other guy, so the songs really come through. Some daring arrangements of old Dizrhytmia (sp.?) tunes and lots of the new album. Highlights included a luscious Underwater Mountain with Tim on keyboards, Persuasion, and 6 Months in a Leaky Boat. The crowd wanted a second encore, but alas it was not to be. Watch for the fuzzed-out vocal through something that looks like an automotive part. He wasn't playing requests; someone asked for Charlie, but I would have liked to hear Parihaka. I'm so glad he came halfway round the world to play here. Next, we need an ALT reunion tour!!! --Jeff

Hi -- just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy the site. After all, if it wasn't for the website I would not have known it was Tim Finn Day here in Pittsburgh yesterday! I was at the show at Metropol last night, and of course it was absolutely wonderful. It started with the presentation of the "Tim Finn Day" proclamation -- Tim seemed touched and perhaps a bit embarrassed at the same time. A natural reaction, but he seemed to genuinely appreciate it, as he knew he was among "Frenz". He was very relaxed and chatty between numbers, and in very good voice. A good mix of old and new numbers as well. The set list: Crescendo/Poor Boy/Death Of A Popular Song/Currents/Medley: Bold As Brass & Chocolate Cake/Dirty Creature/Not Even Close/Good Together/Underwater Mountain/My Mistake/Road Trip/Persuasion/Weather With You. Encores were: I Hope I Never (absoutely stunning - literally brought a tear to my eye, it was performed so beautifully)/Angel's Heap/6 Months In A Leaky Boat. Unfortunately I had a prior commitment so I wasn't able to stick around after the show to let him know how much I appreciated it, but all in all it was a terrific evening. Sorry this is so long (feel free to edit if necessary), but if you're in Philadelphia or NYC or any of the other dates on the tour, GO without hesitation. You won't regret it.

Hi Tim When will Auckland get to see and hear you in concert. I missed the Tabac gig. Venue too small, you have massive appeal. The CD is great. Cheers Naomi

Just got home from the Tim Finn show in Atlanta GA. He played a very small room with about 100 people. IT WAS AWESOME!!! A very intimate setting. His music is great and he is a great show to see live. The night flew by since the music was so great....hope he comes back to Atlanta soon

Oh my god! I have been waitinf for this album for a couple years, back when I heard he was looking for a label! Not like you read this, but Tim, you HAVE to come to Canada! We have been good to you in the past! :) I missed the chance to see you and Neil when you toured for the Finn Brothers album, due to bogus age restrictions. I have wanted to see you all my life ... I have all your albums! Please come to Canada!! Toronto, especially. :) If any of you Finn fan's wanna talk to me, email me! :)
